The implications of the Chakras are often dismissed as being a little outdated material, not relevant to our modern day lives. When you realise they are gatekeepers to the subconscious mind, you realise the potential of the information they hold.

For most of us in the West,we often don't get to even hear the term Chakras until our adult life. Then it is usually in a yoga session or possibly some form of complementary therapy. The concept of them is all too easy to dismiss, especially in our hectic modern day schedules.

The Chakras throw up images either of deep spiritual practices that bear no relevance to our own lives or just seem a little too far-fetched to believe. Certainly very few people outside of a healing setting bother to find out much more about them and when they do they find that a lot of the literature is very heavy going and seems too complicated.

To me,the Chakras are the Gatekeepers to our subconscious mind and when we start to look beneath the surface we can begin to interpret the signals and messages we are constantly receiving - and giving out!

The Chakras; What are they?

Chakra is the term applied to certain points of energy within and around the human body. The word itself is from an ancient language - Sanskrit and is popularly translated as meaning wheel. This is because the mystics and psychics of ancient times, described the energies they saw and felt as spinning circles, discs - it is the natural motion of two or more energies converging.

It is popularly agreed on there being a group of seven main centers, positioned from the base to the top of the spine.Although diagrams often show them as being at the front of the body, they actually stem out in front of us and out at the back too. These centers or spinning circles are constantly functioning, taking in universal energy and distributing it along thousands of tiny pathways throughout the human body.

The Chakras aren't seperate from us, hovering just above our skin - they ARE us!They make up our energetic system, they are continually trying to maintain homeostasis, just as the body does - forever trying to maintain balance. To function well, they need to take in energy and expel out what no longer serves a purpose.

As well as the universal energy all around us, they also work with our mental, emotional and spiritual energies as well as the physical energy of the body.

One of the best ways to start to consider the potential of the information these gatekeepers hold is in our body language. These days we are all much more aware of the implications of body language, that we can subconsciously give away signals that may be very different from what we are consciously trying to say.

One of the most common body language give aways we know of is when someone is not telling the truth. The tendency is to touch the face or neck, cover the mouth or scratch the nose for example.

The whole area around the ears, nose, mouth and throat is governed by the Throat Chakra - our main center of communication - it is often explained in books as being the center with the spiritual objective of being able to talk ones' own truth!

The subconscious doesn't sit in one place in the body, it has affect in every cell and beyond! It is based in the energetic force of our own creation. It links with our Authentic Self, our truest, highest aspect of ourselves.

A subconscious belief is making itself known, it is triggering automatic responses to feeling uncomfortable at some level about the untruth that is being told. Our words may say one thing but our subconscious is saying another.

It doesn't end there, that is merely the beginning. The subconscious holds our greatest potential and many answers we could never consciously work out. When we can tune into our own subconscious we can start to uncover any old beliefs, patterns, characteristics that either work for us positively or that might be holding us back.

This can be in ANY area of our life, work, home, family, relationships.Everything has links to our physical, mental and emotional energies and can have an affect on our wellbeing. The chakras can make the journey to uncovering our True Self more accessible, especially when you discover the areas, the associated attributes and implications they hold the key to.
